Do you BANG your receiver down .......

One of the most amazing phenomenon is putting the receiver down after a conversation. I have always wondered so much about that. It is something which I do with utmost care whoever the speaker maybe. I have had some amazing conversations with closed friends and then I hear a 'BANG'ont he other end as the receiver goes back in, making me wonder - how can someone disconnect so soon. It is indeed a wonder!!

We are so disconnected all the time that even when we connect- there is a hurry to disconnect. We would think that the nature of the mind should be to stay connected and yet, majority of the us cannot wait to disconnect. What a wonder that is !! It makes me wonder -How is it that the LOVE which flowed till the moment you were on the phone vanished in the wink of an eye - when it was time to keep the phone down.

FOr me the most amazing moment is when the voice is fading away after the bye and receiver is going down. It defines the entire conversation I had with the person. That is the RULING moment. How gently do I put the phone down.. Does the smile in my voice retain till the end or there is a hurriedness to end this conversation and begin with the next activity. However busy I may be, that is one thing I never forget to do - gently sliding my receiver into the phone, the SMILE still on my face and the speaker still in my heart. And have I achieved it every single time!! Maybe not though I dont recall when I dont. But I surely might have as I have received many of them. :-)

Those final few minutes of the phone going down totally reflect our state of mind - Are we in the Moment - Are we connected with our Inner Self!! And when the other also has gently unfolded the conversation, I have experienced the depth of silence, and the depth of friendship and love like never before. The phone was no longer a medium .. we were right there with each other ... and we never disconnected!!

You may then wonder - how does it matter with a stranger whom I never knew in the first place - how I keep the phone. Funnily enough.. it is never about the other person. It is about your connectedness with yourself and this universe. In those few moments, so many things about the 'Me' become evident!! And true service stems when the 'Me' is merged in Awareness of every waking moment. And when the 'Me' is and not making an effort to be!!

the easeness of any relationship, the depth of who you are - subtly reflects in the last few moments of your conversation.

How connected am I to myself!!
How connected am I to the Divine!!
How connected am I to the Universe!!

Next time you keep the phone down, observe the state of your mind and you will be amazed!!
