Onam is the biggest festival in the Indian state of Kerala. Onam Festival falls during the Malayali month of Chingam (Aug - Sep) and marks the homecoming of legendary King Mahabali.
We mallus in BayArea California make the most of this occasion to enjoy some delicious Onam Sadya (or feast). Last year was truly legendary were we cooked for like 50-60 people a complete feast with all the legendary dishes. When I say 'we', I am refering to my best half Ram, and our close mallu friends Ciby and Deepak.
This time we decided to have a low-key mallu gettogether and meet some new mallus. Though it was a small family gathering it was one of the most memorable ones. I was the only one keeping up the tradition with a Mallu Saree. :)
Brings back so many memories of being in India and especially in Kerala.
